Mangaluru: Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative of ‘Say no to plastic’ a couple, on their wedding day, distributed sweet boxes made of areca leaves to the guests.
Vinayak and Neha, who tied the knot on Thursday, December 12, brought in uniqueness to their special day by supporting the ‘Plastic-free Mangalore’ initiative.
The sweet boxes that were distributed during the wedding ceremony, bore a message that read, “Say No To Plastic Save Planet Earth”.
Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath attended the couple’s wedding ceremony, blessed them and appreciated the initiative.
Taking to Twitter, Kamath wrote, “Wedding day sweets are usually offered in Plastic Boxes, This couple implemented #PlasticFreeMangalore on their wedding by offering sweets in ArecaNut boxes which is eco friendly. #PlasticFreeKudla is gaining pace. May god bless the couple. #MangaloreSouth.”
