Mangaluru: Mangaluru North MLA Dr. Y Bharath Shetty has urged the police department to take stringent action including arrest under the Goonda Act against those who indulge in theft of cattle and their illegal transportation.

A delegation headed by MLA Dr. Y Bharath Shetty approached the Commissioner of Police Sandeep Patil on Monday, June 24 and submitted a memorandum asking police department to take all appropriate measures to prevent cattle theft and illegal transportation.

The delegation also informed the police that the activity continued unabated because of many illegal slaughterhouses operating in the Dakshina Kannada district. The police should launch a drive to identify such illegal slaughterhouses in order to check cattle theft and transportation, the delegation urged.

It may be recalled that miscreants had stolen cattle from a shed located at Krishnapur by wielding lethal weapons at a family, few days ago.
