Mangaluru: Condemning the “non-performance” of MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLC Ivan D’ Souza taunted that the MP seat was lying vacant for the past 10 years and said the Congress will fill it through youth leader Mithun Rai.
Addressing the mediapersons at the Congress office on Tuesday, March 26, Ivan said,”After seeing the huge crowd accompanying Mithun while he was filing his nomination on Monday, March 25, Congress feels that the youth leader has a wave in the DK district.”
‘Rs 72000 per annum for poor if Cong voted’
Though BJP had promised of depositing Rs 15 Lakh in the accounts of every citizens of our country, it has not happened. If the Congress is voted to power, a new scheme will be introduced to eradicate poverty, in which poor people will be provided with a cash of Rs 72,000 per annum”, he said.
Meanwhile, Ivan said that 33 percent reservation will be provided to women in the central government jobs if Congress was voted to power. No major projects have been introduced in our Dakshina Kannada district during the last 10 years. As the people are well aware of the zero contribution by Nalin to the district, they would definitely elect Mithun Rai this time”, Ivan added.
Responding to a statement by Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar referring to Mithun Rai as “Baccha”, Ivan said, “Even though Mithun is a Baccha, he can achieve more than what the BJP leaders did in the last 10 years. Mithun is a youth icon and a good leader”, he said.
