Bantwal: “The current state government has been successful in managing the flood relief operations and has sanctioned Rs 250 crores. From this, every flood-affected family has received Rs 10,000 each as immediate relief and Rs 5 lakhs has gone to victims who have lost their homes. In the first phase of the flood relief, more than 50 percent of the families were given Rs 1 lakh each,” said state revenue minister R Ashok.

He was speaking at the Mini-Vidhana Soudha, B C Road on Monday, October 21, after distributing 94 C and 94 CC title deeds to the beneficiaries.

“In order to avoid the interference of middlemen, the flood relief amount has been directly transferred to the flood victims’ bank accounts through the Real-Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) system. The state government is ready to provide land to those who have lost theirs in the floods for the construction of houses,” he said.

“Around Rs 15 crores of flood relief funds has already been transferred to the Deputy Commissioner’s account,” he added.

Further he said, “In the Dakshina Kannada district there were 1,07,242 applicants for the 94 C, out of which 40,992 title deeds have been issued. Similarly, for 94 CC, there were 40,245 applicants, out of which 23,609 title deeds have been distributed. By next November, the government has decided to distribute 94 CC to more than 15,000 beneficiaries.”

“In the current context, commoners are suffering without even a piece of land, but the state government has taken special care about such people and will soon allot lands,” he added.

He said that for those who are residing in forest areas, title deeds have been issued to them so that they can stay in that same piece of land.

Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister and MLC Kota Srinivasa Poojary said, “Allotting land to the poor is a good deed. The government must take necessary action to clear the confusion about land allotment issues and the revenue minister should give directions in order to complete the construction work of the new Deputy Commissioner’s office at the earliest.”

MLA Rajesh Naik said, “The development projects have got the green signal today, after a year-and-a-half ‘s effort towards the same. The developmental projects in Bantwal town have been initiated at a cost of Rs 22 crores, out of which Rs 5 crores has been sanctioned under the Chief Minister’s special sanctions and the rest of the amount by various organizations. In the past one-and-a-half-year, more than Rs 100 crores has been sanctioned for the development of Bantwal.”

BJP state president and MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said, “Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has adhered to all the demands of the state’s people. District in-charge minister Kota Srinivasa Poojary has also put in a lot of efforts. State revenue minister R Ashok has helped in solving the confusions of the property card, which has come as a sigh of relief for the people.”

A stone laying ceremony for the developmental projects was held on the occasion.

Out of Rs 22 crores, Rs 10 crores has been sanctioned from the CSR fund, Rs 5 crores from the CM’s special sanction and rest of the amount will be sanctioned from the MLAs’ fund.

MLA Vedavyas Kamath, Zilla Panchayat president Meenakshi Shantigodu, ZP CEO Dr R Selvamani, Superintendent of Police Lakshmi Prasad and others were present.
