Mangaluru: The Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has cautioned fruit and vegetable retailers of permanent trade license cancellations if they don’t purchase fruits and vegetables from the APMC yard in Baikampady.
MCC Commissioner Shanady Ajith Kumar Hegde explained that the MCC had decided to ban the public from entering the Central Market and had already moved the wholesale fruit and vegetable dealers to the APMC yard in Baikampady in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Those who obtained trade licenses from the MCC to sell fruits and vegetables should purchase fruits and vegetables only from the APMC yard. If retail dealers purchase fruits and vegetables from elsewhere, this would be considered illegal and their trade license would be cancelled permanently.
A press statement released in this regard, also informed that, when the MCC comes for inspection, the retail dealers should show the receipts obtained from wholesale dealers of the APMC yard for the purchase of fruits and vegetables. If the retail dealers fail to furnish these receipts during the inspection, their trade license will be cancelled permanently.
