Mangaluru: To mark ‘Good Friday’, the Mary-Matha Sodality of Mangaluru distributed fruits to the patients of Wenlock Hospital on Friday, April 19.
Chief guest of the programme, Mangaluru diocesan Vicar General Monsignor Denis Moras Prabhu said that in order to liberate people from their sins, Jesus Christ sacrificed his life and to mark this holy day, people observe this day as ‘Good Friday’ through fasting and donating something to the needy.
Rector of St. Aloysius Institutions Fr. Dionysius Vas said that Jesus Christ loves all of God’s children. “When he lived on earth, he found joy in spending time with children. As Mary-Matha Sodality Mangaluru is observing this day distributing fruits to the children and poor patients of Wenlock Hospital, I feel very happy and proud of this institution”, he said.
Medical Officer Dr. Juliana Saldanha wished success to the association.
Mary-Matha Sodality President Vivian Sequeria welcomed the gathering and Secretary Ligori Fernandes proposed a vote of thanks. Programme coordinator Susheel Noronha compered the programme. Board members Lawrence Pinto, Rudalf D’Silva, Felix Pinto, Peter Pinto, Valerian Sequeria, Sunil Vas and Nursing Superintendent Harini were present.
