Mangaluru: Mangaluru South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath, on Thursday, announced that the city would soon get a plasma therapy centre to treat COVID-19 patients.
He informed about the same through his social media accounts on Thursday.
Stating that plasma therapy has been successful in treating COVID-19 patients, he said that he would soon discuss the setting up of a plasma centre in Mangaluru.
“It has already been discovered that a maximum of 5 people can be treated with plasma from one recovered person. It can play a significant role in healing the infected…” he wrote, adding that the matter has been brought to the notice of the concerned Minister, in consultation with the District Commissioner and other concerned officials.
The number of cases in the Dakshina Kannada district has been on the rise and as of August 12, there are 2,349 active cases here. Yesterday, a total of 498 COVID-19 patients were discharged from various hospitals.
