Mangaluru: Train services between Mangaluru and Bengaluru will resume from Friday onwards after a break of nearly six months. The Railway Board has permitted three special trains to operate in the South -Western railway division, an official statement read.
It can be recalled that train services were suspended in March due to the COVID pandemic and the lockdown.
According to the statement, while the Bengaluru to Mangaluru train service begins on Friday, trains from Mangaluru to Bengaluru will resume on Sunday, September 6. These trains will operate for four days in a week.
The Yeshwanthpur to Karwar train began operations from 6.45 pm on Friday and the return train will from leave Karwar at 6 pm on Saturday.
The Bengaluru to Mangaluru trains that run thrice a week will resume on September 6 and the return train will depart from Mangaluru on Saturday.
The trains would operate normally with the required COVID-prevention protocols until further notice. Tickets will have to be booked in advance.
Meanwhile, certain routes in Tamil Nadu have also gotten the nod to resume services.
