Mangalore : Mangalore International Airport has something to cheer about. The total passenger traffic at the Mangalore International Airport, has crossed one million.
The Mangalore Airport which got an international tag last year, saw total passengers of 10.32 lakhs as on March 31,2013. As per the statistics available, 8.78 lakh people travelled through the airport during the last financial year thereby recording an increase in passenger traffic by 17.06 per cent in 2012-13.
The total number of passengers who travelled by international flights was 2,67,984 (1,21,427 arrivals and 1,46,521 departures), an increase by 7.12 per cent. Similarly, the total number of passengers who travelled by domestic flights was 7,64,653 (3,84,753 arrivals and 3,79,900 departures) an increase by 21.8 percent.
According to JT Radhakrishna, Director of Mangalore International Airport, the airport was hoping that this financial year, the passenger traffic would increase by 10 per cent.
