Man arrested for cheating Mangaluru University professor for money

Mangaluru: A man who allegedly cheated a Mangaluru University professor for Rs 17.5 lakh has now been arrested by the local police.

Prasad Attavar, founder of Ram Sena, has been arrested by the Kankanady town police for allegedly betraying a man promising him that he would help him get the post of University Vice-Chancellor.

He had demanded Rs 30 lakh for the post of Chancellor and gave life threat when the man asked back his money. He had photo with great personalities of state and country, showing that photos he cheated people for money.

According to a complaint, the fraudster Prasad, now in custody, came to know about the professor through Vivek Acharya. Prasad is  booked under IPC 406, 417, 420, 506 as well as 34. He was formerly the state convener of Rama Sena, came out and built his own Rama Sena organization. Several cases have been registered against him in Mangaluru North and East police stations.

The rowdy register against Prasad has been opened at the North and Kankanady station and further investigation is underway.
