LS polls: Two more candidates filed nomination from Mangaluru

Mangaluru: Two more candidates filed their nomination to contest the Lok Sabha election from Mangaluru constituency on Friday, March 22.

While Deepak Rajesh Coelho, a resident of Balkunje in Mangaluru filed his nomination as an independent candidate, Vijay Srinivas C, a resident of Jayanagar in Bengaluru enrolled under the Uttama Prajakiya Party. Both filed their nominations with Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil. With these two candidates, the total number of candidates contesting the poll becomes three.

Earlier, Supreeth Kumar Poojary had filed his nomination under the Loktantrik Janata Dal (LJD) party on the first day of March 19. Though no candidates preferred to file nomination after this, Deepak Rajesh and Vijay Srinivas went ahead today.

Though two political parties BJP and SDPI have already announced their candidates as Nalin Kumar Kateel and Mohammed Ilyas Thumbay respectively, they have not filed their nomination so far. They are expected to do so Monday, March 25. Though District Youth Congress President Mithun Rai is the candidate finalised by the Congress-JDS a coalition, his name has not been announced officially. The last date for filing nomination is March 26.
