Mangaluru: The filing of nominations for Lok Sabha election has already started and Supreeth Kumar Poojary is the first person to file his nomination for Mangaluru Lok Sabha constituency, on the first day on Tuesday, March 19.
Supreeth Poojary filed the nomination through the Loktantrik Janata Dal (LJD) party. He was accompanied by three others. It may be noted that Supreeth Poojary had also contested the Assembly election in the year 2008 and secured only 744 votes. He had also contested in the year 2013 Assembly polls and secured 1,136 votes.
No other parties preferred to file the nomination on the first day. The last date for filing nomination is on March 26.
The district administration has informed that the nomination papers may be delivered by a candidate or by any of his proposers to the Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada district, Sasikanth Senthil (Returning Officer) or to the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Assistant Returning Officer) R Venkatachalapathy between 11 AM and 3 PM, before March 26.
The nomination papers will be taken up for scrutiny on March 27 at 11 AM. Notice of withdrawal of candidature may be delivered either by a candidate or by any of his proposers or by his election agent who has been authorised in writing by the candidate to deliver it to the returning officer or assistant returning officer at their office before 3 PM on March 29.
