Mangaluru: A large number of people thronged the Panambur beach on the second day of the international kite festival on Saturday, January 18.
Usually, the number of visitors at the beach is more during the weekends. However, Panambur saw more visitors on Friday as it was the first of the three-day international kite festival. Encouraged by the large numbers, national and international kite flyers flew different verities of kites.
The wind tunnel kites gave testimony to the creativity of its makers. One of the team members even gave a divine touch to the festival by designing a kite in the shape of Lord Hanuman, which attracted many people during the festival.
Panambur Beach Development Authority Chief Executive Officer Yathish Baikampady said that the international kite festival, besides promoting tourism, was a platform for unity. People of different nationalities have come under a single umbrella. We are expecting more people to attend the closing ceremony of the kite festival, which will be held on Sunday, January 19, he said.
