Mangaluru/Bengaluru: Amidst the state-wide bandh call on Monday, September 28, Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses plied as usual on the Mangaluru roads.
It can be recalled that various farmers’ organisations called for a Karnataka bandh on Monday in protest of the amendments to the agricultural produce market committee (APMC), land reforms ordinances and labour laws introduced by the Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa government.
Similar scenes were seen in Bengaluru where passengers arrived at the Majestic Bus Station to board buses to go about their daily routine. In Shivamogga too, traffic was seen moving as usual despite the bandh call.
While there have been protests across the state by the farmers’ organisations and other organisations supported by the Congress, JD(S), SDPI, and CPI(M), overall, there has been a mixed response to the call for a state-wide bandh.
