Mangaluru: Minister for Muzrai Kota Srinivas Poojary has asked the officials to issue notices to all those who encroach on the land belonging to temples that fall under the Muzrai department.
Chairing the progress review meeting of the Muzrai, Port and Fisheries department at the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Monday, September 16 Poojary said, “As there are complaints of encroachment of the land of temples in several areas, a proper survey should be conducted and notices should be issued against violators. Show leniency only to the priests of the temples and the poor people who don’t have any other property.”
Meanwhile, the minister emphasized the need for maintaining cleanliness in the temples. “As single-use plastic has been banned, measures should be taken to avoid the use of plastic carry bags in temples,” he said.
When Additional Deputy Commissioner Roopa suggested the formation of an authority to develop the Kukke Subrahmanya temple, as it would help undertake developmental works in the temple quickly, Poojary informed that he would look into the matter.
The minister also informed that a Maritime Board will be constituted shortly to develop the various ports of the state. “There is also a plan to develop the seashore under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model,” he added.
