Mangaluru: ‘Benddkar’, much-awaited Konkani film produced under the banner of Harry Fernandes Films is all set to premiere in Mangaluru at the Big Cinemas on November 22 at 10 am. On the same day, the film will also be premiered at Bharat Cinemas, PVR Mangalore, Karkala and Moodabidri in the evening.

The team hopes to hold the shows in Mumbai and other parts of the country in future, said Benddkar co-Producer and actor Stany Alvares while addressing a news conference on Tuesday, November 19.

The word ‘Benddkar’ means a brass band artist and the film revolves around the life and times of a brass band artist. As the brass bands are gradually dying, this artist struggles through the unchanging realities of life and makes persistent efforts to make his younger brother develop a love for the art.

Alvares said that since there is a difference in the Konkani language spoken in Karnataka and Goa, the film has been made in two versions covering both the styles of Konkani.

Famous Goa Tiatrist and singer Prince Jacob can be seen in a pivotal role in the film, while Marathi actor Varsha Usgaonkar too has acted in an important role.

John D’Silva, Kevin D’Mello, Naisa Lottikar, Sunita Menezes, Deepak Paladka, Joseph Mathias among others have acted in the film.

The lyrics have been penned by Wilson Kateel while music has been rendered by Patson Periera. The camerawork has been done by Shafiq Sheikh. The film has been directed by renowned Konkani director Harry Fernandes and has been jointly produced by Dophy Rebello, Harry Fernandes, Staney Alvares and Prince Jacob.
