Karnataka and Kerala nurses have great demand: DMO Rajeshwari Devi

Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada District Medical Officer (DMO) Dr. Rajeshwari Devi has asked the nursing students to strengthen their experience in all units of nursing citing that there was good scope for nursing professionals throughout the world.

She was addressing the nurses and nursing students during ‘World Nurses Day’ organised at the Regional Advanced Paediatric Care Centre (RAPCC) of Wenlock District Hospital on Saturday, June 15. She said, “Nursing profession is a noble profession. There is a great demand for nursing students from Karnataka and Kerala. This has been possible only due to their selfless service and hard work.”

Additional Deputy Commissioner R Venkatachalapati, after inaugurating the programme, said that the nursing profession demanded selflessness and sincerity in the service. “Those into nursing profession always care for the health of others rather than their own”, he said and assured that he would try his level best to address the problem of scarcity of nurses at Wenlock Hospital, by bringing it to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner of the district.

Meanwhile, senior nurses Chanchalakshi, Sharada and Gracy Fernandes were felicitated for their prolonged service as the nurses. Seven nurses who excelled in different activities along with their nursing profession-Harini P, Bhavani, Sumangala, Sunanda, Philomena Beretto, Subhashini and Shashikala-were also felicitated on the occasion.

Wenlock Hospital Medical Officer Dr. Juliana Saldanha, Medical Superintendent Dr. Savitha, Dakshina Kannada District Government Employees Association President Prakash Nayak, Rajiv Gandhi Health University former senate member Irin Vegas, District Nurses Association Honorary President Harini P among others were present.
