Kalkura Prathistana to organise ‘Sri Krishna Vesha Competition’ on August 23

Mangaluru: The Kalkura Prathistana will be organising the eagerly-awaited annual Krishna vesha competition for children in 30 categories at the Kadri Sri Manjunatha temple premises on August 23.

Kalkura Prathistana president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura told mediapersons here on Tuesday, August 20 that the event is an effort to help children exhibit their talents. Over 3,000 kids are expected to participate in the competitions which will be held at 12 different venues including the Shri Krishna Janmamahotsava Samithi Main Stage, Abhishek Hall, Shri Ganapathi temple, Kalyana Mantap, Manjushri and near Kadri Kere Ashwatha Katte from 9 AM to 9 PM.

The competitions have been spread across 30 categories including `Kanda Krishna’ (kids below one year), `Muddu Krishna’ (from one to two years), `Thunta Krishna’ (from two to three years), `Bala Krishna’ (Play school and LKG), `Kishora Krishna’ (UKG and first standard), ‘Sri Krishna’ (second, third and fourth standard), `Geetha Krishna’ (for students up to seventh standard), `Yaksha Krishna’ (for students up to SSLC with Yakshagana costumes), `Radha Krishna’ (students up to seventh standard as a pair), ‘Radha Madhava’ (for students above the seventh standard as a pair), `Yashodha Krishna’ (no age limit for women, but children should be below 12 years), ‘Shankhanada’ (up to seventh standard), `Shankha Udghosha’ (above seventh standard), `Devaki Krishna’ (mother should have participated in previous events), `Vasudeva Krishna’ (open to all), `Nanda Gokula’ (minimum five members, no age limit), `Bala Krishna quiz competition’ (up to seventh standard), `Sri Krishna quiz competition (above seventh standard) among others.

Kalkura also informed that no entry fee has been fixed for the competitions. “Every child participating in the event will be gifted with an idol of Udupi Kadagolu Krishna, books relating to Lord Krishna, certificates, photographs of Lord Manjunatha and a Bhagavadgeetha book. There will be prizes for winners of first, second and third places in each category. Special encouragement will be given to differently-abled children and mentally challenged children,” he said.
