Mangalore : The victory of the BJP candidate Nalin Kumar Kateel by defeating Janardhana Poojary of the Congress by a margin of 1,43,709 votes has left the BJP camp elated. Party workers and leaders are celebrating their victory across the district. They were seen bursting crackers and distributing sweets to mark the win.
Speaking to reporters, the victorious candidate Nalin Kumar Kateel said that the hard works put in by the party workers have yielded result. “The works done by me during the past five years have been recognised by the people as is evident from the support they extended to me,” Nalin said. He owed his victory to the people and said the results have proved that the coastal district continues to remain the stronghold of the BJP.
Nalin said there is a plan to set up a Special Agricultural Zone and a separate railway division for Mangalore. He also assured all out efforts to develop the port and to upgrade Mangalore International Airport. IT Parks would be set up to generate more jobs, he said. He also made it clear that he would continue to oppose Yettinahole and Niddodi projects.
Nalin also made it clear that he was not an aspirant for a cabinet berth.
