ISTD Mangaluru / Udupi Chapter holds panel discussion on “The Path Less Taken”

Mangaluru: The monthly chapter meeting of the Indian Society of Training and Development – Mangalore / Udupi Chapter was held on 23-10-2020, on the Zoom platform at 6 PM on Friday, October 23, 2020. The meeting included a Panel Discussion on Entrepreneurship entitled the ‘Path Less Taken’.

The Panellists consisted of local entrepreneurs who shared their experiences and their reasons for taking the less trodden path of Entrepreneurship, a dimension of the economy that has received renewed interest in the wake of the Corona Virus pandemic that has reshaped the job market quite extensively.

The Panelists included Mr. Gopalkrishna Baliga – Proprietor – Power Mate, Mrs. Michelle Pinto Co-founder and COO of My Road Runner, Mr. Naveen Julian Rego – Certified Financial Analyst, Ms. Nayana Shetty – Proprietor – My Fitness Hub. Mr. Akshay K Paniker – M.D – Ankuram Educational Trust.

The Discussion was moderated efficiently by Ms. Sapna Shenoy. The moderator and the panelists were introduced by members Mrs. Manisha Suvarna and Mrs. Vani Umakka.

The panelists described their respective journeys through the entrepreneurship space, starting from ideation to execution and its aftermath and the challenges they faced and overcame to make their dreams a reality. Special emphasis was paid to the management of Stress and Work/Life balance.

Moderator Ms. Sapna Shenoy ensured smooth conduct of the discussion with her insightful leads and warmth, which facilitated excellent participation from both the audience and the Panellists.

The session was followed by a Q and A Session and committee member for training purposes Mrs. Shivani Baliga, curated questions from the audience. A lot of questions were thrown at the Panelists and they answered each on with calmness born out of their experience and the panelists emerged as Heroes/Sheroes worthy of emulation.

The meeting was chaired by Secretary Mrs. Preetham Kamath. Chairperson Mrs. Niveditha Mirajkar welcomed the virtual gathering and apprised members of the commencement of the Diploma Programme in the month of January 2021.

The P.G Diploma Programme in Training and Development is an 18 months Correspondence Programme recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India. Vice-chairperson Mrs. Dr. Malini Hebbar is in charge of the Diploma Programme at the Mangalore / Udupi Chapter. 

The treasurer Mr Balachandra Achar gave the treasurers report and assured the chapter that funds were being managed efficiently.

Managing Committee Member Ms Divyashri Gatti who oversaw the compilation of  the results of the membership survey presented her findings on the expectation and needs of the members as follows:
