Mangaluru: The Principal District and Sessions Court Judge Kadloor Sathyanarayana Acharya has expressed his displeasure over the misuse of nature by the human warning that it would cause an imbalance in nature.

He was addressing a gathering after inaugurating a programme, ‘International Forest Day’ and ‘World Sparrow Day’ at the Shri Gokarnanatheshwara B.Ed College auditorium on Thursday, March 21. Acharya said that the greed of human beings was the root cause for all evils. “The recent fire incident at Bandipur forest is also a classic example of the greed of people. However, some vested interests are trying to protect ones responsible for setting fire in Bandipur forest”, he lamented.

“Though sparrows could be seen all around in the olden days, there no such situation now. It is very unfortunate that we have to organise a programme like ‘World Sparrow Day’ in order to protect sparrows”, he said.

Meanwhile, in order to create awareness about preserving sparrows and nature, students were provided mud pots (to be used as a nest for sparrows) and saplings on the same occasion.

Chief Forest Conservator Prakash S Netalkar presided over the programme. Senior Judge Shekhar Poojary, Deputy Forest Conservator Dr. Karikalan, Regional Forest Officer P Sridhar, Gokarnanatheshwara College Principal Dr. Deepthi Nayak and Correspondent Jayavikrama among others were present.
