Mangaluru: Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council, Kota Srinivas Poojary has urged the government to handover the IMA Jewellery Scam case to CBI for investigation.

Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, June 25, Poojary said that over 40,000 people had lost their money and that 95 percent of the victims are from the Muslim community. “If Congress and Janata Dal (S) coalition government is really concerned about the Muslim community, they should handover this case to CBI for justice to prevail on those who lost their money,” he stressed.

Meanwhile, Poojary said that names of some powerful ministers and leaders of both Congress and JDS parties were being heard in the IMA Jewellery scam. “How will the victims of this scam get justice if the probe is conducted by a single agency?”, he questioned.

Pointing at the suicide attempt at Vidhana Soudha by a librarian Revanappa of Chinthamani taluk, Poojary urged Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy to address the problems of the librarians. “As the reason behind Revanappa’s suicide attempt is his poor salary, government should address this problem. Instead of simply wasting his time in Grama Vastavya, the chief minister should respond to the grievances of the public”, he stressed.
