Mangaluru: Heavy rainfall is expected to lash parts of coastal Karnataka and Goa on Friday, October 18, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
As a result of a cyclonic circulation, the IMD predicts heavy rains for coastal Karnataka during the next 48 hours.
In an announcement, the IMD also said that isolated regions of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, and Maharashtra will experience a heavy downpour.
The East-Central Arabian Sea is experiencing bad weather accompanied by violent gusts of wind and rain. This is likely to affect regions along the south Konkan coast including the coastal parts of Karnataka.
The IMD further said that a cyclonic circulation (extending up to 5.8 km above sea level) has been produced due to low-lying pressure areas over the southeast Arabian Sea and areas surrounding the Lakshwadeep Islands.
The cyclonic circulation is expected to reach Telangana by passing through parts of Kerala and Karnataka, said the IMD in its All India Weather Warning Bulletin.
