Mangaluru: A landslide that occurred at Banglagudde near Kaikamba in Gurupur claimed lives of a teenger and a ten-year-old child, on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased are Safwan (16) and Suhana (10). The bodies were retrieved after four hour long operation by the NDRF teams, said sources.
It is said that five people were inside the house, but when the incident took place, three managed to run out of the house and save themselves, while the two remained inside the house.
The hillock caved in and the loose mud fell over four houses.
District in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary said that two houses have been completely damaged and residents of 14 houses that are exposed to threat have been relocated to safer places.
“I have already spoken to the CM about the issue and he had promised all help from the government, he said.
