Mangaluru: Mangaluru South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath has asked government officials to rectify minor errors in the documents that are required for them to avail government benefits.
Kamath, after inaugurating a programme organised to distribute various facilities of the government to people, at Kudmul Ranga Rao Town Hall on Tuesday, February 25, said that despite Mangaluru being identified as a major city, there are many families that do not have domestic gas.
“The families that do not have gas connection can approach the officials concerned and get this benefit. If there were minor mistakes in documents, it should be rectified by the officials in order to ensure that the poor are not deprived of government programmes and benefits,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kamath lauded the efforts of officials who identified beneficiaries from poor financial background and helped them avail government facilities.
MLC Ivan D’Souza, who was the chief guest asked the government officials to inform about the government facilities to all the beneficiaries.
“Many people are deprived of facilities as they are not aware of the programmes. It is the duty of the officials to inform people about the schemes and programmes,” he said.
A total of 873 beneficiaries received government facilities on the occasion.
Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) Deputy Commissioner Dr Santhosh Kumar, health officer Manjaiah Shetty and others were present.
