Government funds should be utilised in a systematic way: MP Nalin Kumar Kateel

Mangaluru: “We need to utilise the government funds in a systematic way for quality constructions so that it will useful for general public” said Dakshina Kannada MP Nalin Kumar Kateel.

He was speaking on Sunday March 28 after laying the foundation stone for the Smart City Project of connecting road via RUB near the Jepu Mahakali Padpu in the city, from the highway 66 of Jepu National Highway to the Morgan’s Gate junction.

The work is being carried out at Rs 49.95 crore, he said. He added that the road is about 4.50 meters to 6.0 meters wide and there are many heavy vehicles and other vehicles on a daily basis. The road is very narrow and the traffic is causing traffic congestion, he said.

He further said, “To address these problems, the road is being widened to 18 meters wide, with four lanes of concrete road, lamps, two sections of rain water drainage, and other road improvements, including the RCC barrier in the lowlands, to facilitate the movement of vehicles.”

Vedavyas Kamath, MLA said that if the district is to be developed, the people should do their job honestly and lead the city towards development by utilising the smart city grant.

He said that the people should cooperate during the development work and he assured that the proposed project will be completed within prescribed deadline.

Speaking on the occasion, MCC Mayor Premanand Shetty said that the construction of a connecting road from Mahapalipadpu RUB to Jepu National Highway 66 to Morgan Gate Junction will be completed in a span of 12 months.

He urged that corporators should be able to alleviate difficulties by calling meetings and constantly listening to the problems of the people in their jurisdiction.

 The event was attended by Deputy Mayor Sumangala Rao, corporators Bhanumati, hailesh Shetty, Corporation Standing Committee Chairman Sandeep, and many other corporators.
