Mangalore: Deputy Commissioner N Prakash who addressed a meeting of builders, civil engineers and MCC health officials on June 6, Thursday, has warned builders of stern measures like cancellation of licence if they fail to adhere to cleanliness norms at construction sites. The builders were also warned against flouting construction rules.
Pointing out that the survey conducted by health officials had revealed that many construction sites had failed to maintain cleanliness, the DC urged the builders to give utmost priority to cleanliness. He also said it was also found that the construction workers have not been provided basic amenities at construction sites resulting in cleanliness problems.
When builders tried to explain that the number of Malaria cases was on a rise due to monsoons, the DC said he did not want excuses but strict adherence to rules. He also said he would go on a spot inspection and that any builder found flouting the rules will face action.
Deputy Commissioner Prakash also stated that the administration would not tolerate blocking of drains and roadsides by dumping construction materials. He said the MCC tipper has already vacated several such blockades and added the expenses incurred towards the same will have to be borne by the builders concerned.
