Mangaluru: A massive protest meeting organised by Muslim Aikyatha Vedike led by former mayor Ashraf K, against Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA), National Register of Citizens (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR) held at Tippu Sultan Garden, Kudroli, wherein thousands of protesters participated, on Tuesday, February 25.
Speaking at the protest meeting, activist B R Bhaskar Prasad said, “the move of union government to initiate CAA , NRC and NPR is anti-constitutional. Our fight should not be only against CAA, NRC and NPR but it should also be against the BJP. There is a need to chase away this party out of our country,”
Recalling his association with the RSS, Bhaskar said,” I was in RSS for 20 years and I have quit RSS now. The parents should tell their kids who attend the camps that they are being prepared to be murderers or are getting ready to be murdered. Even we had been involved in violence. However, when police detained us none of these RSS leaders came to save us. It is only parents who struggle.
Journalist Ra Chinthan, addressing the protesters informed that people’s proof for citizenship is the tri-colour flag.
“When someone comes asking for our documents to prove our citizenship just show them the tri-colour flag. One should not divide people on the grounds of religion, caste and creed,” he stressed.
