Mangaluru: The Father Mullers medical college hospital becomes one among the four hospitals to receive the Ayushman Bharat Arogya award from the Karnataka government today at the Republic day celebration held by the district administration. The hospital was recognised for the award due to its work done towards district health and family welfare.
Director of Father mullers charitable institutions Fr Richard Coelho explained how every patient is treated equally in the hospital. “Even if the patient is very poor, we do not reject them based on their money. There is no difference in treatment between our patients and our fares are also very reasonable,” he said.
“Patients come to our hospital because they are aware of our service mentality. We do not use low-cost equipment or medicines for any of our patients. Every decision is made under the supervision of the senior staffs,” he added.
He explained how the added benefit of being at the heart of the city and having doctors on call always may have led to the hospital being favoured by the people.
“We help our patients raise funds for treatment by collaborating with charitable organisation like the Darmasthala trust,” he said
“During the Covid time also we followed all the protocols given by the government and the patients have surely appreciated our efforts,” he added.
Medical Superintendent of the hospital Dr Udaykumar will receive the award on behalf of the Hospital.
