Mangaluru: Environment day was celebrated at the Father Muller Salvadore Monteiro Rural Health Training Center, Bajpe on July 13.
The chief guest for the occasion was Ayisha, member of Bajpe Panchayath and Jayanth Suvarna, president of Bajpe Rotary Club. Robert Rego and Raghava Kamath, members of Bajpe Rotary club, were the guests of honour.
As many as 36 saplings were planted around the campus to create awareness about the environment and the importance of rain water harvesting. The patients and bystanders, along with the FMSMRHTC staff and interns, participated in the plantation drive.
Talks were held by the chief guest and guest of honour with the underlying theme- ‘Go Green’.
Dr Jessy Maria Dsouza, R.M.O Incharge of FM SM RHTC, coordinated the event along with Dr Saurabh Kumar, Associate Professor Community Medicine Department and Salvadore Monteiro.
The Father Muller Salvadore Monteiro Rural Health Center, set up on November 1 2018 in Bajpe, has been catering to the health of the underprivileged around Bajpe and its neighbouring areas. It is an example of the Father Muller Charitable Institutions’ service-oriented goal to provide holistic health and compassion to their brethren. With modern amenities and a 50-bed hospital, this center has been a spring in the desert for many.
