Mangalore : Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim who is also the Chairman of the District Youth Advisory Committee has asked the officials of the Nehru Yuva Kendra to chalk out programmes that help in keeping the youth constantly engaged in nation building activities.
He was presiding over a meeting held on behalf of the Yuva Kendra here on Wednesday July 2 to discuss the over 13 projects worth Rs 8.25 lakhs to be taken up by the Kendra during 2014-15.
The DC also suggested that the skill enhancement programme to be organised by the Kendra should lay emphasis on beautician training, embroidery, tailoring, artificial jewellery making and such other vocational training for women in order to help them achieve self reliance.
M.N. Nataraj, District Youth Co-ordinator of the Nehru Yuva Kendra who also spoke, gave information on the various programmes of the Yuva Kendra. This year, the Centre has issued a circular to celebrate the birth anniversaries of Shyamprasad Mukherjee and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, he informed.
Sadashiva Prabhu, Additional DC, MCC officials and representatives of various youth organisations attended the meeting.
