Mangaluru: Dancer Kishore Aman of Dance India Dance fame has been arrested by the City Crime Branch sleuths, on September 19 as he was in possession of drugs.
Another person too has been nabbed along with Kishore, informed Mangaluru Commissioner of Police Vikas Kumar, in a press meet.
Kishore Aman Shetty (30), a resident of Kulaigudde and Aqeel Nausheel (28), a resident of Surathkal were arrested for possessing MDMA (methylene droxy methamphetamine), which is banned drug and trying to sell the same.
While Aqeel was working abroad as a safety officer and had returned to his native place about a year ago, Kishore was one of the contestants in Dance India Dance-2, a dance reality show on ZeeTV, and a member of Ocean Kids Dance Company.
Kishore had also acted in the Hindi movie ‘ABCD’.
The duo used to buy drugs from cities like Mumbai and Bengaluru and sell it for quick money to the youth and college students, informed the compol.
From the duo, the police seized items like drugs (MDMA), a Bajaj Discovery bike, and two mobile phones, worth Rs 1 lakh.
The cops will intensify their probe into the drugs connection between Mumbai and Mangaluru and also to the various parties happening in cities where drugs are supplied.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of police commissioner Vikash Kumar, by CCB inspector Shivaprakash, R Naik, economic narcotics inspector Ramakrishna, CCB PSI Kabbalraj and others.
The police have urged the general public to pass on the information about drug peddling in the city to the police control room on 100/0824-222080.
