Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district Congress Committee spokesperson A C Vinayraj condemned the controversial statement of Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur on Anti-Terror Squad (ATF) chief Hemanth Karkare and asked the BJP to withdraw the decision of allowing her to contest from Bhopal Lok Sabha constituency.
Addressing the reporters at district Congress office on Saturday, April 20, Vinayraj said, “Pragya Singh, an accused in Malegaon bomb blast case, has compared Hemant Karkare to a demon and opined that Karkare’s whole family should be destroyed. She also informed that Karkare died owing to his sin, but, it is known fact that Karkare nabbed Ajmal Kasab, an accused of Mumbai terror attack. By providing BJP ticket to Pragya Singh from Bhopal Lok Sabha constituency, the BJP showed its stand on the terrorism”.
Vinayraj urged with the BJP to withdraw the decision of making Pragya Singh as the member of the Parliament and questioned that if the BJP wants to root out terrorism activities, how it can allow a terror accused to contest polls. “If the BJP has concern about our country’s safety, it should not allow Pragya Singh to contest in any election”, he added.
Congress leaders Mahabala Marla, Sadashiv Ullal, Nazeer Bajal, Neeraj Pal and Ilyas Kadaba were present.
