DK reports 2 new corona cases, Udupi 1; State total up by 16 new cases

Mangaluru: Two new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases have been reported from the Dakshina Kannada district. Udupi has reported one new case. All the three are being treated in Mangaluru.

The Dakshina Kannada district now has 12 COVID-19 cases; Udupi has three.

According to the latest release by the health department, there are 16 new COVID-19 cases in the state. Of these, two are attendees of the Tablighi Jamaat in New Delhi, both of whom are from the Dakshina Kannada district.

The details of the new cases are as follows:

Patients 129 (21-year-old male) and 130 (57-year-old male), both from the Bengaluru Urban, are contacts of Patient 58. Patient 130 is Patient 58’s father and Patient 129 is the domestic help.

Patient 131 is the 43-year-old son of Patient 101. He is also a Bengaluru Urban resident.

Patient 132, a 78-year-old man from Bengaluru Urban, has a history of travel to Dubai. He returned to India on March 17.

Patient 133 is a 60-year-old resident of Kochi, Kerala. He has a history of travel to Germany and is being treated at a hospital in Bengaluru Rural.

Patients 134 (38-year-old male), 135 (19-year-old male), 136 (39-year-old male) and 138 (54-year-old male) are residents of Mysuru with a history of travel to Delhi.

Patient 137 is a 39-year-old Mysuru resident. A detailed investigation into his history is underway.

Patient 139 is a 40-year-old Mysuru resident. A detailed investigation into his history is underway.

Patient 140 is a 34-year-old Mysuru resident. He is a contact of Patient 109.

Patient 141 is a 47-year-old Hospet resident. A detailed investigation into her history is underway.

Patient 142 is a 63-year-old woman from Udupi. She has a history of travel to Dubai. She returned to India on March 22. She is now being treated in Mangaluru.

Patients 143 (43-year-old male) and 144 (52-year-old male) are both residents of the Dakshina Kannada district. They had attended the Tablighi Jamaat meet in New Delhi from March 13 to 18. They are also being treated in Mangaluru.

Bengaluru Urban has the highest number of active cases (45), one death. and nine recoveries. Mysuru comes second with 28 active cases. Dakshina Kannada stands third with 12 active cases, followed by Bidar (10) Uttara Kannada (8), Chikkaballapura (7), Kalaburagi (2), Ballari (5), Davangere, Belagavi and Udupi (3 each), and Dharwad, Kodagu and Bengaluru Rural (one each).
