Mangaluru: “The government should allow industries to come up in Dakshina Kannada district and a minimum of 1,000 acres of land is needed here for industrial development”, said the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) President Sudhakar S Shetty on Saturday, March 23.
Addressing the reporters at the auditorium of Kanara Chambers of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Sudhakar said that though the 300-km stretch of the coastal belt of Karnataka is a big asset to the state, it has been neglected by the government. The coastal area in Goa, Gujarat and other states have been treated as economic hubs which are not done in Karnataka. A separate development authority should be constituted to develop Thannirbavi, Mulki, Sasihithlu and Gokarna beaches”, he stressed.
Referring to the recently concluded ASEAN Summit, where delegates from 23 countries had participated, Sudhakar said, “Different industrialists have expressed their willingness to invest around Rs 2 Lakh Crore in Karnataka. For the development to take place, the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) should acquire land for the industries”, he said
Meanwhile, Sudhakar informed that FKCCI was planning to organise an NRI conclave during June 2019 to attract investments in Karnataka.
KCCI President P B Abdul Hameed and FKCCI Vice President C R Janardhan among others were present.
