Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada district BJP unit will be organising a massive awareness programme on the newly-implemented Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC) at GoldFinch City Grounds in Bangra Kuloor on January 27.
The event also aims to thank both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for introducing CAA.
Addressing reporters at the district BJP office on Tuesday, January 21, district BJP President Sanjeeva Matandoor said, "Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will be participating in the scheduled programme at around 3 pm. Since opposition parties are misguiding the people with regard to CAA and NRC, it is the need of the hour to educate the public about both legislative actions. Hence, the BJP district unit will be organising the programme wherein over 1.5 lakh people from both Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts are expected to participate."
Matandoor further urged commercial business owners, taxi drivers, and autorickshaw drivers to voluntarily participate in the programme.
"BJP booth committee members, Gram Panchayat, Taluk Panchayat, Zilla Panchayat members will also participate in the programme," he added.
