Mangaluru: After observing the slow progress of the works taken up under ‘Smarty City’ project, Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh has instructed the officials to speed up the work and complete them at the earliest.
Speaking at a Smart City inter-department coordination meeting, she expressed displeasure over the lack of progress in some road development works due to objections raised by private landowners.
Meanwhile, she has asked the officials to complete the land transfer formalities under Transferable Development Rights (TDR) and finish the works at the earliest.
She also asked the officials to regularly follow-up on issues and complete the works that are pending for want of approvals from the Railways and National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). She said that there would be a delay if the officials only write letters to those authorities and wait for their replies.
With regard to the construction of houses under the Ashraya scheme in Shaktinagar, the DC asked the authorities to try to solve the issue or look for alternate land for the project.
