Mangaluru: Covid-19 vaccine drive for those over the age of 45 will begin from April 1, with new 2000 centres.
Minister for Health & Family Welfare and Medical Education, K Sudhakar was speaking after meeting with the district health sector in Dakshina Kannada district. Vaccination is already being offered in 3000 centres as of now. The vaccine will be delivered to 2 thousand new centres, making it five thousand centres in total. In one centre 100 people can get the vaccine and roughly two and a half lakh people need to get the vaccine.
Raising concern over several passengers travelling between Kerala and Karnataka, he said that there is also a guideline rule that mandates a negative RT-PCR Report for travellers. He has instructed the staff to take stricter action against violators.
The district has 40-50 active corona cases every day. To tackle the surge in cases, Covid prevention measures must be followed. He added that the district’s health staff should be able to inspire more people to get the covid vaccine.
Noting the good work being done in Dakshina Kannada, he said that more work needs to be done in this regard. He emphasises that government hospitals need to serve the public better. He has instructed authorities to increase specialised enhanced surgeries in their field.
Under the Ayushman Bharat-Health Karnataka project, 40% progress has been made but still need to reach the 60% target, he added.
