Newskarnataka - Mangalore
Mangalore: The BJP has retained its seat in the prestigious Dakshina Kannada constituency. Party candidate and incumbent Nalin Kumar Kateel has once again trounced senior Congress leader and party candidate B Janardhana Poojary, this time by a margin of nearly 1.5 lakh votes.
Reports said Nalin had maintained a lead in all Assembly segments including Mangalore North, Mangalore South, Mangalore, Belthangady, Moodbidri, Bantwal, Puttur and Sullia.
His victory has proved that the presence of AAP and the SDPI has failed to make an impact on the voters.
Dakshina Kannada had this time registered a poll percentage of 77.18 which was the highest so far.
Nalin’s victory in DK has certainly boosted the morale of the BJP and its workers and has dashed the hopes of the Congress veteran Poojary of making it to the Lok Sabha this time being his last chance to do so.
