Cyclone Tauktae: MLA Vedavyas Kamath urges people to be safe

Mangaluru: The meteorological department stated that due to the effect of cyclone Tauktae, a red alert has been issued from May 14 to 16 and orange alert till the morning of May 18 thereafter.

MLA Vedavyas Kamath here on Friday may 14 urged the people of coastal areas to be alert and ensure their safety as the coast is likely to receive heavy rain coupled with thunder, lightning, and strong wind.

He advised the people, as well as the fishermen to stay away from rivers, sea, low-lying areas, etc.

MLA said, “MCC officials need to make preparations in advance to manage the possible danger.”

Kamath said already the discussion is held to shift the people of Sultan Batteri, Kudrolli, Bandar area, Hogai Bazar, Bajal, Jappin Mogaru, Tota Bengre, Kasaba Bengre, etc to the safer places.
