Mangaluru: Former captain of Indian cricket team Rahul Dravid, who is also the brand ambassador of Manipal Hospital launched the Manipal Arogya Card (MAC) at TMA Pai International Convention Centre on Tuesday, April 24.
After releasing the health card, Dravid lauded the initiatives of Manipal Hospital and asked the public to utilise the opportunity. “I congratulate and appreciate the management for their continuous efforts in making a significant social impact on the communities they serve”, he said.
Regional Chief Operating officer of KMC Hospital Saghir Siddiqui informed that cardholder could avail the benefits of medical and dental services across Mangaluru, Udupi, Karkala, Manipal and Goa in the scheme by paying a small amount.
Manipal Academy of Higher Education Pro-Chancellor H S Ballal said that the health card is like an umbrella which offers protection at the time of necessity. “It is among the largest non-insurance based and non-government healthcare schemes in India”, he added.
This health card was created in the year 2000 by the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) with an aim to make quality healthcare treatment affordable to the public. It offers benefits on a complete range of healthcare services. The benefits include discounted consultations with any special doctor any number of times during the year, laboratory investigations, CT/MRI/ultrasound, OP procedures, normal and caesarian delivery, admission charges, bed and nursing charges, surgeries at ultra-ward, semi-special and special healthcare packages and diabetic foot management to name a few.
Medical Superintendent Dr. Anand Venugopal, Manipal Hospitals Chairman Dr. Sudarshan Ballal among others were present.
