Mangaluru: The leaders of district Congress committee paid visit to Pachanady dumping yard and demanded government to sanction at least Rs 100 crore to address the problems of the public and to rehabilitate them, on Wednesday, August 21. Incessant rains had washed away head of waste and inundated residential and agricultural land.
Former ministers U T Khader, Ramanath Rai, MLC Hareesh Kumar, former MLA Moideen Bava among others visited the place and listened to the grievances of the local residents. They also asked the officials of horticulture department and health department to visit the place and to take proper precautionary measures to ensure no any further damage occurs at the area.
After visiting the area, Ramanath Rai said that though the BJP leaders visited the place, they blamed the previous government for the plight. “Instead of blaming the previous government, let them initiate action to solve the problem of the residents who have been temporarily rehabilitated in the Housing Board”, he stressed.
U T Khader blamed the government saying that despite the incident having occurred 15 days ago, the ruling party has no idea or an action plan to solve the problem. “The Congress party has formed a committee to collect all the necessary information and submit a report in this regard. We will submit a memorandum to the chief minister to take action and sanction funds to permanently rehabilitate the affected families”, he said.
Former mayors Shashidhar Hegde, Kavitha Sanil, Bhaskar K, Corporators Naveen D’Souza, Asha D’Silva among others were present.
