Mangaluru: BJP Mangaluru South Block organized a postcard campaign in support of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) near Sri Mangaladevi Temple under the tagline “#WeSupportCAA”.
The campaign was flagged off by Mangaluru South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath.
Addressing the media, he said, “There will not be any issues for the residents of this country caused by the Act that has been implemented by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government. But half-knowledged Congress leaders are misleading the people with false information, as they have not read the Act. The main purpose of the CAA is to provide citizenship to religious minorities of Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan namely, Hindus, Jains, Parsi’s, Sikhs and Christians, who have suffered persecution in these countries.”
Lashing out at the Congress party, he said, “The Congress party is trying to instigate the minorities of this country against the BJP, as they have realized that they have failed in all their moves. The Congress might have forgotten this, but its own leaders demanded an amendment of the Citizenship Act when they were in power. But the people of this country will never forget it.”
“We need to congratulate PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for taking a firm decision. We support the CAA with this postcard campaign”, he added.
Several BJP leaders and corporaters of the Mangaluru City Corporation were present.
