Mangaluru: There is a suspicion that there have been corrupt practices in the recruitment process for jobs in MRPL. The local will face injustice if this recruitment are made. Therefore, stop the recruitment process immediately or face stringent protest,” said former MLA Abhaychandra Jain.

He was speaking to media person on Tuesday May 25. “I know the functioning of MRPL since the time it was established as I was the MLA of that particular region. Then, I had a firm belief that locals will be benefited by setting up of MRPL in terms of jobs. In this background, there were many locals who gave their land away for the MRPL to set up, thinking that the district’s youth would be benefited,” he said.

However, the recruitment drive being held at present is going against the betterment of the local people. “Neglecting the locals, the north-Indian candidates have been considered for the recruitment. The contract given to private recruitment company of North India is not a good move. As per Sarojini Mahishi report, the locals need to be recruited and the already done recruitment process needs to be considered not valid,” he stressed.

Speaking on the occasion, State youth congress, former president, Mithun Rai said that, “As per the Sarojini Mahishi report, local needs to be provided with the jobs on priority and not others. Stating that lakhs of students complete their education from various educational institutions from the district and are looking for jobs, he said it is unfair to only consider four applications out of 2000 people who have applied for the jobs. According to the Report, jobs for C and D categories are reserved for locals and Kannadigas which makes the current recruitment not valid as 184 recruitees had to be locals and not outsider. Congress party stands by the people of the district and will not tolerate any sort of injustice. We will undertake a protest and will see that the recruitment current done becomes invalid,” he emphasised.

Speaking to News Karnataka Mithun Rai said, “We can’t go forward with any protests as of now because lockdown is in place. So far, no such preparation has been undertaken. We held a press conference on Tuesday May 25 and have given MRPL and the local MLAs more than 20 days to respond, so further action will be taken after that.”

During the press conference, congress leaders Vinay Raj, Praveen Chandra Alva, Santhosh Shetty, Anil Kumar, Keshav Maroli, Meryl Rego, and NSUI district president Sawad were present.
