Mangaluru: Commissioner of Police Sandeep Patil asked officials of Regional Transport Office (RTO)  to suspend the Driving License (DL) of the drivers involved in road accidents on Monday, May 20.

Patil was chairing a coordination meeting at his office to discuss preventing road accidents attended by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), Public Works Department (PWD) and RTO officials were present

Patil informed that the police department had identified the ‘black spots’ which are prone to accidents and the departments concerned should take corrective measures to ensure humps, better lighting, cautionary signs, dividers among others to prevent accidents.

It may be noted that many main and interior roads in the city do not have humps, proper lighting, signboards, dividers among others. Reports also suggest most of the accidents occur due to the reckless driving here.
