Complete lockdown in Dakshina Kannada for one week from July 16

kota dk 13072020Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada district will go into complete lockdown from Thursday, i.e. July 16 onwards, informed district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary on Monday, July 13.

He said this in a video message to the people on Monday.

The Minister further said that Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa said that local authorities will decide whether or not to enforce a lockdown depending on the situation.

In view of the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the Dakshina Kannada district, the district authorities, peoples representatives and other stakeholders decided that a lockdown in the district is required to control the spread of the disease, he added.

“There will be a complete lockdown in the district from Thursday. The lockdown guidelines will be issued by the Deputy Commissioner soon. Today (Monday), tomorrow (Tuesday), and the day after tomorrow (Wednesday), everything will be open, so you (the people) can buy what they want,” he said.

Controlling COVID is the need of the hour and is a priority, he added requesting the people to cooperate with the district authorities to curb the spread of the disease.

Asking the people not to panic, Mangaluru South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath asked the people not to panic buy.
