Mangaluru: Coast Headquarters No.3, Karnataka organized a Special Swachhata Abhiyan to commemorate the 44th raising day of the Coast Guard alongwith various agencies who came forward to participate in the event. The event was part of a massive campaign to understand the environmental, climatic and health consequences of pollution, especially of the beaches.
The event was conducted at Tannirbhavi Beach no.1, New Mangalore on January 24. The Coast Guard’s engagement in this noble cause have motivated various NGO’s and other organisations.
The Coast Guard Headquarters No.3, Karnataka and the units under command have enthusiastically participated in the event wherein they spread the awareness on Swachh Bharat, by displaying banners and placard. The special drive was aimed at putting in a small step towards making a cleaner planet.
The representatives from Coastal Security Police, Forest Department, Municipal Corporation, Surfing Club Mangalore, Beach Rejuvenating Army and M/s Yojaka participated in Special Swachhata Abhiyan. The personnel collected a substantial amount of garbage and plastic waste from the beach and surrounding areas.
During the event DIG SB Venkatesh, Commander Coast Guard Karnataka while interacting with media called upon the participants and local populace to support the campaign and to join the Coast Guard efforts to end pollution. The Commander also emphasized to ensure eradication of garbage and plastic from the serene environment and naturally beautiful spots like beaches to take us closer to a cleaner, more hygienic and less toxic world. The event was concluded with the note “Preserve the environment for generations to come”.
