Mangaluru: To mark the 60th birth year of entrepreneur Prakash Shetty, a grand programme ‘Prakashabhinandana’ will be organised at the ‘Goldfinch City’ plot in Kuloor, which will be inaugurated by Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on December 25.
Reception committee president Suresh Shetty Gurme told mediapersons here on Wednesday, December 4, that various programmes will be organised to mark the Shetty’s birthday celebration. “In honour of Shetty’s 60th birth year, a total of 60 physically challenged persons will be provided with Rs 1 lakh each and 60 meritorious students will be awarded a scholarship to the tune of Rs 10,000 each. The programme will be presided over by Nitte (Deemed to be University) Chancellor N Vinay Hegde. Deputy Chief Minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan, Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai, union minister D V Sadananda Gowda, MP and BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel, Minister for Tourism C T Ravi, DK district in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, Udupi MP Shobha Karandlaje and Mandya MP Sumalatha Ambareesh will grace the occasion,” he informed.
15 achievers to be feted with gold medals
Meanwhile, a total of 15 achievers in from different fields will be presented gold medals on the occasion. The achievers are Dr Amruth Someshwar (Literature), Dr B M Hegde (Medicine), Dr Chandrashekhar Shetty, Bengaluru (Medicine), Dr Suneetha Shetty, Mumbai (Literature), Appanna Hegde Basrur (Social Service), Jaya Suvarna (Social Service), R N Shetty (Social Service), Jagannath Shetty Pune (Social Service), M N Rajendra Kumar (Cooperative sector), L G Soans (Agriculture), Shimanthoor Narayana Shetty (Yakshagana Chandassu), Govinda Bhat Surikumeru (Yakshagana, Tenkutittu) Bannanje Sanjeeva Suvarna (Yakshagana, Badagutittu), Koteshwar Lakshminarayana Acharya (Sculpture), Bola Subbaiah Shetty (Social Service), Sara Aboobakar (Literature), Narayana Rao Padubidri (Religious field) and Nagara Narayana Shenoy (Sports).
Informing about the cultural programme, Suresh said, “A programme called ‘Yakshagana Vaibhava’ will be organised as part of the programme, wherein veteran Yakshagana playback singers Patla Sathish Shetty, Bansale Raghavendra Achar and Kavyashri Ajeru will be participating. A cultural programme will be presented by the students of Alva’s College Moodbidri and a musical programme by veteran music director Arjun Janya and singer Vijay Prakash will also be held. Famous anchors Anushree, Roopesh Shetty and Nithesh Shetty Yekkar will compere the programme. Over 25,000 people are expected to attend this programme.”
