Mangaluru/Bengaluru: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa felicitated Kambala jockey Srinivas Gowda, who has been dubbed ‘India’s Usain Bolt’, at his office in Bengaluru on Monday, February 17, for his record-breaking speed during the traditional buffalo race.
Kannada and Culture Minister C T Ravi, Labour Minister Arabail Shivaram Hebbar, Youth Empowerment and Sports Department Additional Chief Secretary Kalpana and others were present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, the labour department handed over a cheque with the face value of Rs 3 lakhs to the stellar sportsman, who has become an internet sensation since his record-breaking run. Later, Deputy Chief Minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayana also felicitated Srinivas Gowda at his office and announced an award of Rs 1 lakh for the sportsman.
