Mangaluru: Despite the government permitting operation of the private buses in district after relaxation of lockdown guidelines, the Bus Owners’ Association had decided not to operate the buses if their demands including revision of bus fare, waiving of road tax among others are not fulfilled.
However, there is a hint now that private and city buses will provide their services from June 1.
It can be noted that there was a meeting held recently with regard to operating of bus services in the district and during the meeting, the city and private bus owners’ associations had placed some of their demands. The meeting failed to arrive at any conclusion and the Associations said that they will not operate the bus till their demands are met.
However, it now looks like the Associations are willing to start the service.
“District administration has not given prescribed guidelines for operating buses in the district. If there were prescribed guidelines, it will helps us provide best services to the public,” he said.
Meanwhile, Alva informed that all buses will not be run simultaneously. ” If five buses have permission to run on a route, we will operate three buses only and remaining buses will start operating after considering the number of passengers, ” he informed.
State Private Bus Owners’ Association Federation President Rajavarma Ballal also hinted that private buses will operate from June 1.
He also urged district administration to fulfill their demands and to release a prescribed guidelines to operate bus services.
